Under a million shadows

The Kabul Chronicle’ in Vogue (March 2009) by Andrea Busfield is an interesting article about life in Kabul ‘which she says wasn’t about terrorism or the Taliban- it was a heady mix of partying, friends …

“at night, we would discard our headscarves, rearrange our cleavages, apply our lipstick and head for favourite spots such as the restaurant- bars of  L’Atmosphere, Gandamack and La Cantina. Afghanistan is an Islamic country, but the alcohol ban only applies to Muslims. The only rule imposed on Western revellers was to leave their firearms at the door”.
